On Saturday the 29th of December, club members, sponsors and friends of Blackrock College RFC were treated to a fantastic day out to finish off the 2018 club calendar year. On the final day of Leopardstown Racecourse's Christmas Festival, guests began arriving to the gorgeously decorated Panoramic Suite just after 11am and were greeted with a champagne reception.

Folks were quick to get their bets in as the first race kicked off just after noontime. A private balcony offered guests the opportunity to watch the race from above, or they could stay indoors and view the multiple television screens. For those who hadn't read up on the horses beforehand, there was a tipster present who offered his tips and suggestions throughout the day. A tombola draw also took place, offering two tickets to the Ireland v France 6 Nations match in March. The lovely meal was catered by Fitzers, with wine supplied through Boutique Wines.

We wish to share a big thanks to all those who participated in the event, many of whom are repeats year after year. This annual event has sold out the last few years so we suggest for those who are interested in attending in 2019, to book in early! As Pat Finn previously mentioned, this event is the only club function where guests can show a profit by attending and it appeared that we had several lucky winners by the end of the day- it's no wonder the event sells out every year!
