Stephens Day at Stradbrook saw a buzzing hive of activity, and while the heavy fog kept the visibility low, there was still plenty to be seen throughout the club.
The day started off with the early-bird GOAL Milers who began arriving from 10am, and the steady stream of runners, joggers and walkers continued throughout the day with many familiar faces of local families who have incorporated the Stradbrook Mile into their holiday tradition. There was also plenty of new faces who were thrilled to get out in the fresh air after a busy Christmas. The last GOAL Mile group finished just before 3pm.
Other sights from the day included a Santa who was spotted running amuck on the lower pitch during the annual Tip Rugby match, some brilliant (and other not-so-brilliant) kicks took place on the top pitch for the first annual Place Kicking Competition, followed by reports of the tag rugby organiser seen with a interesting addition... we'll leave it at that!
Some of the images from the day...
The Club's GOAL Mile organiser, Conor Coughlan, was busy from 10am-3pm, filling in Mile Certificates and handing out the completed stickers.
Many of the visitors to Stradbrook's Stephen's Day GOAL Mile have been coming back year after year. Thanks to all who came and donated to this wonderful cause!
Congratulations to the winners in the 1st Annual Blackrock College RFC Place Kicking Competition, Ben Hearty in the Junior Division, and Alan Dalton for the Adult Men. We look forward to seeing this competition grow each year.
And well done to all the tag and tip rugby players who donned their boots for a good run around on Stephen's Day! It was fantastic to see such a great mix for the games, and thanks to Paul Clinch for organising the matches.
