With the AIL Division 1B having a break week, there was plenty of other action for our club teams, all away fixtures for the club and its supporters!
Friday night saw Rock U20's play under the lights in College Park versus a solid Trinity team and compete in the Premier 2 division for the first time this season. Running out to a strong lead in the first half, Rock were 29 points to the good at halftime, with a fine performance by the team. In the second half, Trinity came back into it with 12 points on the board and Rock scored once more to finish out a great win 12 - 34 and great to see all the support for this young side.
Our 3rds side started their season with a super win over Clontarf, last Saturday, 25 - 29 and well done to Tom Taaffe and all involved in getting the team in place and the very best of luck for the season ahead. It's a testament to all the hard work going on in the club to see more sides emerge for the full season campaigns.
The new side in Blackrock College RFC, the Under 17s, took to the field and had a great win over St Marys 59 points to 24, with nine tries scored. Amazing result and well done to all involved in making this happen between the parents and our coaches, it's what will ensure success in the club for years to come!
Finally, congratulations to Enya Breen on captaining Ireland on a 26 -14 win over USA and to other Rock players, Aoife Wafer and Emily Lane. Ireland finished 2nd, topping off a very successful trip and we wish them continued success for the season ahead.
This Saturday, the AIL is back and Highfield visit Stradbrook for a highly anticipated clash versus our Men's 1st XV, followed by the Women's 1st & 2nds teams battling Railway Union, so all support is welcome and see you Stradbrook!
