Hello everyone,
Well, it was a pretty hectic week to be an Irish rugby supporter.
We paid our respects to Niall Brophy last Tuesday in what was a fantastic celebration of his life. Past Presidents, current members of the First team, and management performed a guard of honour as Niall made his final journey.
Unfortunately, the School's SCT team lost a pulsating final on St Patrick's Day to Gonzaga, who we congratulate on their first ever finals win. Stradbrook hosted the party for the team and family and friends afterwards and it was a big success despite the result.
We then had a wonderful weekend watching the Six Nations, where our men's senior team and the Under 20s both won the Grand Slams. It was a great weekend to be an Irish rugby supporter.
Back on the club front, the AIL kicks off again on Saturday with the First team travelling to Limerick to take on Old Crescent, who are celebrating their 75th Anniversary. Whilst we won the home match back in October, it's never easy heading to Limerick. The team is hoping a big support will travel as we head into the last three games of the season. Our Seconds and Thirds both commence their cup campaigns on Saturday also in Stradbrook, so if you cannot make it to Limerick, maybe drop into the Club to support one or both of these teams at home.
All the rest of the fixtures this weekend are can be found on our calendar.
Have a great week and hopefully catch up at the weekend.
See you all soon,
John Colclough
